If you want your car to live longer, you will have to maintain your oil pressure gauge properly. Since the forced lubrication system was invented, oil pressure gauge is crucial part of every car. By forcing oil through the drillings or oil galleries into the bearings that always being very stressed, the big part of engine is being lubricated. For example: cylinders, cam lobes…
Why is oil pressure important you ask? It’s easy. Your engine will live longer because, if you have enough oil pressure, the metal of the journal or rotating shaft and the metal of the bearing shell will never touch. Because of that, bear will be reduce to only the time when you first start or shout down engine. Isn’t that great? That is just one example, but you got the point!
If you own a car, then you probably know that as time goes by, the oil pressure will go down and it will decrease its efficiency with age. At some point, its effectiveness will be too low and your engine will start to experience some difficulties and damage. In order to counter that, we use oil pressure gauge. Some cars have a gauge to show the oil pressure at any particular time, while the other cars have only a notification, warning light that turns on when the pressure goes too low.
Pressure is the highest when the engine is cold, and contrary, the lowest when the car is warm or hot. That is what determines the lowest possible oil pressure allowed.
Hopefully you got the rough picture of oil gauge pressure after reading this article!
